From Medical OEM to Global-Ready Innovation: Developing a Next-Generation Smart Medical Cart

2025/10/03

With extensive experience in medical OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) and medical ODM (Original Design Manufacturing), our team partnered with a leading brand in smart medical equipment to co-develop their next-generation medical device cart. The client, an ISO 13485 certified manufacturer, is known for strict requirements in medical device design, mold quality, and functional integration. This long-term partnership covered every stage—from proof of concept to medical contract manufacturing, DFM (Design for Manufacturability), mold development, and stable mass production.

Precision Engineering with DFM Expertise
The client’s in-house design team worked hand-in-hand with us to ensure manufacturing feasibility. We provided design optimization for custom medical equipment, reviewing laser-cut sheet metal tolerances and die-cast strength simulations. Acting as both design and manufacturing technology consultants, we performed multiple feasibility assessments to guarantee smooth transition from prototype to high-volume production.

Multi-Module Integration for Healthcare Efficiency
This smart medical cart integrates computing systems, monitoring modules, and power units, while supporting easy wiring, installation, and maintenance. We optimized the structure to meet hospital safety standards and improve healthcare workflow efficiency, while ensuring cost-effective medical manufacturing that remains competitive in global markets.

Mold Development for Quality and Reliability
We delivered comprehensive DFM analysis for injection molding and aluminum die-casting, including:
- Optimized parting line locations
- Draft angle adjustments for durability
- Gate and vent placement recommendations
- Uniform wall thickness to prevent warping and defects
These improvements reduced tooling risks, cut lead times, and increased trial production success rates—critical for medical device manufacturing.

From Pilot to Mass Production
We supported initial pilot runs of 10 units for clinical trials and user feedback. Through multiple refinements—enhancing appearance consistency, wiring convenience, and assembly efficiency—the cart achieved readiness for large-scale medical production. The final result: a highly integrated, cost-optimized medical cart that enhances usability, safety, and durability in healthcare environments.

A Partnership Built for the Medical Industry
This project exemplifies the power of collaborative engineering in the healthcare manufacturing sector. By combining medical equipment design expertise with precision manufacturing, we turned an advanced concept into a commercially viable, globally competitive medical solution.
